Concord, N.C.–New urbanist Afton Village, right off I-85:  This section is strange with townhomes with brick partitions separating front yards.  Here’s a nice little bridge.  Here are the Beacon Townhomes.  Here are some nice single-family homes in the development.  These homes have bridged walkways to get to them.  This section (a few streets) is a more typical suburban neighborhood.

Then I started at the highway and headed west on Concord Mills Rd. past tons of new commercial sprawl.  Also in Concord–Christenbury Woods (regular upscale neighborhood); here is the entrance.  Here is the neighborhood’s manor house.  This neighborhood was still under construction as of image date 2008.  Here’s another part of the neighborhood across Cox Mill Rd.  These homes have interesting facades.  Just up the road, Cox Mill High School under construction.

>> I added an Afton Village entry to Wikipedia under Examples of New Urbanism.  Let’s see how long it lasts before it’s edited or deleted.
